M. Randel Davies was born in Los Angeles, California on November 27, 1951. He graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1973, and earned his J.D. degree from the University of Southern California in 1976. From 1979 to 2003, he was a member of Nebenzahl Kohn Davies & Leff LLP, a six attorney AV-rated firm where he handled real estate, finance and business transactions, as well as regulatory and legislative matters involving California banks and other financial institutions, and related litigation. For two years, Davies was a partner in the Century City law firm of Rein Evans & Sestanovich, LLP. Mr. Davies has broad experience in negotiation and documentation of real property acquisitions and sales, leasing, partnerships, limited liability companies, syndication and financing transactions. Over the past five years, Davies has handled nearly a billion dollars in complex real estate closings.
Earlier in his career, Davies was a commercial litigator and handled hundreds of lawsuits involving loans, leases and business disputes, including trials and appeals. Mr. Davies also participated in the drafting of revisions to the California Industrial Banking Law, which included testifying on several occasions before the banking committees of the state legislature. He has represented many of the major industrial banks operating in California, and has extensive experience in the negotiation and documentation of commercial and consumer loan and equipment lease transactions, loan sale and participation transactions, loan workout, foreclosure and enforcement matters, and dispute resolution. Mr. Davies has served on the Financial Institutions Committee of the State Bar of California.
